Daily Journal Selects The Norton Law Firm for 2025 Top Boutiques in California List

The Norton Law Firm is honored to be selected by the Daily Journal to its “Top Boutiques 2025” list, published on November 5, 2025 at this link. The list recognizes law firms with fewer than 25 attorneys that, according to the Daily Journal, are “managing significant matters within their areas of practice.”

Partners and co-founders Fred Norton and Bree Hann, former Big Law partners and in-house litigation counsel at SolarCity and Tesla, launched The Norton Law Firm in 2017 to build a complex civil litigation boutique rooted in integrity, purpose, and team culture. Norton said, “Having been in-house was an advantage because it gave us insight into how to manage a business as a team. Now that the pieces were in place, Bree and I felt very strongly that it was a matter of craft and principle, and we have forged a successful partnership ever since.”

The Daily Journal highlights several of the firm’s cases, including its defense of a major technology company in a high-stakes data breach case against plaintiffs of various alleged classes claiming damages in the hundreds of millions of dollars. “We took over from a large national firm,” Norton said. “We are trying to decertify several classes and limit our client’s exposure to nominal damages.”

Also mentioned in the firm’s profile in the Top Boutiques publication is the firm’s significant victory for investor Marc Cohodes in a high-profile Freedom of Information Act case involving government intimidation in response to Cohodes’ public criticism of biotech company MiMedx Group Inc.’s business practices.

The Daily Journal also highlighted a pro bono matter in which the firm represents 191 members of the U.S. Congress as friends of the court in a challenge to President Donald Trump’s authority to levy tariffs. To read the full article, please click here.
